The opportunity
Your role is to support Aurora in using data to achieve its organisational objectives. You will apply your skills and experience in data management, analysis and data visualisation to assist staff at all levels in making data-driven decisions. This includes supporting data quality across programs, collating and analysing data to communicate the impact of Aurora’s programs in improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, building staff capacity with data and contributing to funder reports and funding applications.
Who we are looking for
We are seeking a values-driven data specialist who:
- Has a tertiary degree in IT, Business Intelligence, Data Science or equivalent.
- Experience using R, Python, Stata or equivalent statistical package to undertake data analysis.
- Utilised Power BI and Excel to generate recurring and ad hoc reports for various business units.
- Experience in database management, application building, data analytics and reporting.
- Possesses strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to collaborate across teams.
- Ability to balance taking direction and exercising initiative.
Responsibilities
Data Management and Analysis
- Work with program staff across Aurora to review data collection and data management practices in line with team priorities and identify opportunities for improvement
- Undertake data analysis, including analysis of Aurora program data, Aurora survey data and external datasets, to support impact evaluation
- Support data collection activities such as survey administration, data transformation and data preparation
- Work collaboratively to utilise Aurora’s CE database to meet data needs
- Analyse external datasets to provide insights into the context in which Aurora’s operates and support wider knowledge translation and advocacy activities
Reporting and Evaluation Support
- Visualise and communicate relevant data to program staff to support continuous program improvement and data-led decision making through dashboards and presentations
- Undertake regular internal and external reporting, such as Board KPI and funder reports, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Support the design and implementation of research & impact frameworks and logic models
Ethics and Data Governance
- Support adherence to Indigenous data sovereignty principles in all data activities
- Promote and uphold Indigenous data governance frameworks to ensure respectful and ethical data management
Collaboration and Capacity Building
- Assist program teams by applying digital literacy across Aurora’s CE platform to extract, analyse, and present data that supports reporting and decision-making
- Work collaboratively with teams to integrate data-driven approaches into program planning and delivery
