The Icon Group is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel for a 12 month fixed term contract to support our subsidiaries - Icon, Minicon & Barpa responsible for the provision of legal advice and support.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate excellence in tendering by delivering precise, high-quality work aligned with business objectives.
- Maintain a superior technical standard, meet tender deadlines consistently, and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Facilitate accessible and relevant communication in tender processes through appropriate methods and clear, concise wording.
- Provide precise legal advice with clear recommendations for tendering, identifying areas of uncertainty and ensuring understanding.
- Balance excellence and pragmatism in tendering by identifying and managing deviations from Icon Group benchmarks.
- Drive compliance with internal approval processes in tendering and proactively minimize risk exposure.
- Advise proactively on delivery phase matters,and work with key internal stakeholders to develop effective strategies to assist in preventing disputes.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Current practising certificate in an Australian jurisdiction
- In house construction experience is essential
- Head contractor negotiation experience
- Strong background in construction law, contracts, and exposure to resolution of delivery phase issues and disputes
- Demonstrated ability to provide clear, pragmatic advice in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels
