Transport Coordinator – Maternity Leave Contract
Location: St Marys, NSW 2760 (moving to Glendenning in March 2026)
Employment Type: Full-time or part-time (school hours considered)
Steel Builders is seeking an experienced Transport Coordinator to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of our delivery operations. This is a maternity leave contract with strong potential for extension. We offer flexibility around hours and a supportive, safety-first work environment.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring that deliveries run smoothly, efficiently, and on time—balancing customer needs with operational capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery Planning & Coordination
- Develop and adjust daily delivery schedules based on customer, project, and driver input
- Allocate trucks, semi-trailers, and third-party transport to meet delivery demands
- Send delivery updates via SMS and other communication platforms
- Optimise routes and timelines in response to changing priorities
Logistics Execution & Administration
- Maintain accurate delivery records and report issues or additional charges
- Manage third-party logistics purchase orders and reconcile invoices
- Issue dispatch paperwork and loading tags
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with production, sales, logistics, and customer service teams
- Foster a positive and collaborative culture aligned with our company values
- Proactively identify and resolve cross-functional challenges
Safety & Compliance
- Support adherence to fatigue management and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements
- Report hazards and near misses; assist with incident investigations
- Uphold all company safety policies and procedures
About You
- Experience in transport coordination or logistics, ideally in a fast-paced or industrial environment
- Strong organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Clear communicator with the ability to collaborate across teams and external contractors
- High attention to detail and capable of managing multiple priorities
- Comfortable using ERP systems, Excel, and route optimisation tools
- Dependable, adaptable, and self-motivated
