About the role
The Patternmaker is responsible for the creation of accurate Patterns and Tech Packs in line with the designer’s vision and according to seasonal design schedules and the critical path.
Key Responsibilities
Patternmaking & Tech Pack
- Analyze design brief to determine if design is to be developed through supplier or pattern internally.
- Create patterns for seasonal collections using the Style CAD system from original drawings using our existing block library of patterns.
- Participation in fittings for all sample and bulk stages and keep accurate dated notes on all alterations discussed.
- Perform pattern alterations, as required, after fittings and emailing factory Tech packs.
- Create accurate Tech Packs including garment specifications, BOM’s, grades, maker instructions and any fit photos where applicable.
- Liaise with sample makers and suppliers to ensure patterns are accurate and manufacturing ready.
- Experience with offshore suppliers and interpreting factory-made patterns is an advantage.
Sampling
For PROTO and SMS sampling the Patternmaker is responsible for:
- Measure samples and assess for quality/make and update spec prior to fitting.
- Fit with design, action all comments and update spec as required.
- Send all updated and completed Patterns and Tech pack along with any corresponding samples to the suppliers.
- The above needs to be in line with design milestones and company critical path.
Production
For PPS sampling the Patternmaker is responsible for:
- Preparation of final Pattern and Tech Pack to produce PPS and Bulk.
- Ensure samples are signed off to proceed and tracker updated.
General Process Management
- Attend design handovers and block discussion.
- Updating critical path style tracker for each stage of sample development.
- Clear and concise communication with suppliers, in-house machinists and external makers to ensure they understand our requirements.
About you
- Must have at least 5 years' experience in Patternmaking.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction, fit, and fabrication across multiple categories.
- Excellent understanding of grading, block development, and technical specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solutions-focused approach to achieving the best fit and finish.
- Ability to work collaboratively with design, product development, and sample room teams under tight deadlines.
- Experience working with offshore manufacturers and understanding production constraints is highly regarded.
- Must have Excel experience.
